HONEYCOMB SHADES FAQ
Learn more about honeycomb shades & cellular shades:
Do honeycomb shades come in different sizes?
Honeycomb blinds have an interior “cell” made out of two layers of fabric and they come in a variety of sizes depending on the style. Most are single cell but a double cell version is another option which comes with a smaller pleat.
Can cellular shades be blackout?
Many of the cellular fabrics some in both semi-opaque and blackout options. This gives you a consistent aesthetic throughout the house but can be specific on function as needed.
A cellular or honeycomb shade is one of the best options for blackout. If it is measured and ordered properly it comes with a tight fit leaving very little space for light seepage.
What are pleated shades?
Honeycomb or cellular shades can also be referred to as “pleated” since they are made up of the fabric folded into pleats. When they are raised (or lowered) they collapse into a tight stack so disappear and leave a wide open view which is a huge advantage for this style of window covering.
Are honeycomb blinds cordless?
Due to recent Health Canada regulations our blinds and shades are all cordless with no more dangerous or unsightly tangled cords, chains or strings.
This makes the window coverings cleaner with sophisticated mechanisms to easily manipulate by fingertip.
Are cellular shades designer-friendly?
Honeycomb shades can be a great way to express your personality and style depending on your choice of fabrics, textures, graphics while providing privacy from the outside.
They can have a very different look when you go lighter or darker or even introduce a bolder colour that compliments your home and add great value.
Can window coverings protect my home from harmful UV rays?
Sun exposure can be very damaging to your valuable and cherished possessions so adding a layer of UV protection while still being able to enjoy your view, is an important function of your window treatments.
Are honeycomb shades modern or traditional?
Both! Cellular blinds are very simple and functional and can be a great window covering on its own OR paired with custom drapes or roman shades to add more layers.
The clean lines of a honeycomb blind can complement a very traditional interior detailing or the simple, clean lines of a modern room.
2 in 1 for day and night
Some windows may have excessive requirements so more than one shade is required. Consider a bright day with blinding sunny rays streaming in – you want to filter the light, but still keep a view. Then at night you need to block light and/or a view for privacy so a different shade is needed. A 2 in 1 shade has both a sheer, transparent shade for day then a light-filtering or blackout for night – all built into one for the ultimate in versatility and function.

Sun up sun down – privacy with a view
A window with direct exposure to a high traffic area like a street or public path will need privacy but doesn’t mean you want to block out your entire view. A top down, bottom up cellular shade can be lowered down from the top to create privacy while keeping the top part of window free to enjoy the view of the tree tops and sky.
